March Favorites

Since living abroad and being unable to purchase many items that I have clung to for years, I have been trying so many new products that I have bought myself or my friends have gotten and loved so much. I thought I would share these new favorites with you guys in all aspects of my life including skincare, makeup, music, and more. Some things are new to me, some are oldies but goodies, and some are just essentials.

  1. Lush Ultrabland Cleanser

I know that skincare is often hard to universally work well with everyone’s skin but I have noticed that it works well with any skin type – oily, combination, normal, and dry. I started using it every morning and night, during a time that my skin was having a hard time adjusting to weather change so therefore was breaking out a ton. Since then, I have noticed a huge change in my skin. Plus, I love that I feel that my skin has been COMPLETELY cleaned from this product. My friend once referred to this as micellar water on crack.

2. Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation

Urban Decay

I used this product on a whim because one of my friends purchased it and was raving about it, and it’s safe to say I am now in love. I think that this is one of the best foundations that I have used and I feel like days I wear this foundation my skin looks airbrushed. No joke, if you need a full coverage foundation (especially in these spring months where skin can breakout from change in climate) this is such a good investment. The only thing I would say you should be warned about for this product is that in some cases dry skin does not work well with this foundation if you do not moisturize. I personally love this product and have dry skin so if your skin is well moisturized prior, there won’t be any problem.

3. That brings me to my next new favorite: Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream

I have been really feeling the winter weather on my skin and therefore, have been having breakouts more often than not. I recently went in to get my skin tested at Kiehl’s (if you have a Kiehl’s near you I highly suggest this so it can confirm to you what your skin type is). This is the moisturizer I was recommended for having normal to dry skin. I have really been liking it and feeling hydrated – plus the fact that I can use it morning and night is a plus.

4. Watermelon Juice

This sounds like a weird one but I tried this for the first time this month and I am hooked. Not only is it amazing hydration (containing 92% water) but it also has such amazing health benefits for you as well (the other 8% contains vitamins, antioxidants, and amino acids). If you are in need of something hydrating and water is getting boring, try watermelon juice – you will not regret it.

5. Black Panther album

If you have not listened to this album you need to go on Spotify, Apple music, or wherever you listen to music and LISTEN. The songs are so good, the movie has such a positive message and impact, and the people featured in the album are pretty fantastic. Kendrick Lamar, Khalid, Jorja Smith, SZA, Future, The Weeknd and many more feature on this album to make it one of my favorites at the moment.

6. Coconut oil

I hope this one is obvious but if it’s not- coconut oil is the holy grail. I use it for shaving, it works like a charm and I have gotten most of my friends to start using it as well. It’s amazing. You can also use it for makeup remover, heathy alternative to most oils, add it to smoothies, overnight hair treatment, and I used to add it to coffee which I firmly believed help keep me full longer (I no longer drink coffee or else I would still be doing this). The list of ways to use coconut oil and the benefits go on and on, if that isn’t enough to convince you it is wonderful than I do not know what will.

7. Newsboy Hats

Nasty Gal

I personally think that this trend is a really easy way to make a simple outfit trendy, it almost feels like you’re cheating because it is so easy. Plus, it hides when you’re having a bad hair day, big fan.

8. Rex Orange County

If you are not already familiar with him, you should get familiar. Alex O’Connor is the voice of Rex Orange County. He was born and raised in England and is already growing at a rapid speed here. The most streamed song by Rex Orange County is “Loving is Easy”. My personal favorites are “Best Friend”, “Sunflower”, and “Television/So Far So Good”. Honestly though, I usually just put his music on shuffle when I am studying because the chill vibe is just straight up pleasant to listen to. Also, if you’re a fan of Tyler Creator- Rex Orange County is featured in his songs Boredom and Foreward.

9. Hot yoga

I have been completely obsessed with hot yoga for about a year now. If you do not know what that is it is yoga in sauna style of heat. It sounds like something only a crazy person would do for fun but I can honestly say it is the only form of workouts that I genuinely enjoy and find my body craving. The health benefits are completely amazing. It can increase your metabolism, increase blood flow in your body, and flush out your toxins in your body. I started out when I was not at all into fitness because my friend wanted me to join and even though I hated working out I quickly became obsessed. Afterwards, you feel amazing even if during it you are probably questioning “Why the hell am I here? Why did this girl tell me to come?”. I’ll tell you why: that post-hot yoga shower and glow is addictive. Plus seeing how strong and flexible your body can become with practice is honestly so rewarding (and this is coming from a girl who would count walking to school as my exercise for the day).

10. The Subtle Art To Not Giving a F*ck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life by Mark Manson

I’m not joking when I say that within the first few pages of this book I already know that it would easily be one of my all-time favorite books. It’s witty, it’s bluntly honest, and it forces you to self-reflect on what you’ve been doing and how it’s been negatively impacting you. It really put into perspective how the little things just do not matter as much as we may think that they do and we need to pick our battles on what matters to us. It’s really entertaining so it’s one of those books that is hard to put down. Hence, why I have been recommending this book to literally every single person I know. It’s inspirational, influential, AND an easy read for those individuals who are not big into reading.
