July Movie Recommendations

Between spending time out in the sun and working all day, everyone needs a nice time to sit back and relax. What better way to do that than to watch a movie? The month of July brought a lot of great movies both in theaters and at home. Here are just a few of Aura 32’s favorites.

Release Date: July 7th

Starring: Tom Holland, Zendaya, Robert Downey Jr. and Michael Keaton

Tom Holland brings a new take to an old character. Following his time with the Avengers, Peter Parker decides to vlog his every move before returning to reality as a high school sophomore. When he’s not suiting up to fight villains, Peter spends his time studying, practicing his spidey senses, and preparing for prom. Holland could not make a better Spider-Man! This is not a remake to be missed.

Release Date: July 12th

Starring: Christian Borle, Andrew Rannells, Stephanie J. Block, and Brandon Uranowitz

The streets of Broadway are coming to a cinema near you! For one weekend only, until more dates were released for August thanks to popular demand, the story of unlikely lovers is no longer contained to just the Walter Kerr Theatre. Nominated for five Tony Awards including Best Revival, the film version of Falsettos is the perfect way to see the fantastic show without flying to New York. With fantastic music and a heartwarming story, Falsettos is the perfect show for musical and film lovers alike.

Release Date: July 14th

Starring: Lily Collins

If spending over $13 on a movie ticket isn’t your speed; try spending $7 a month for a variety of options. Netflix released To the Bone which highlighted the battle of struggling with an eating disorder. Playing on her own experiences, Lily Collins gives a haunting but heartfelt performance as Ellen who goes to a group home for recovery. While this may not be a go-to for a lighthearted Friday night, it sends an important message about the reality for many people. To the Bone should not be overlooked.

Release Date: July 21st

Starring: Fionn Whitehead, Tom Hardy, and Harry Styles

Walking into a theater for a World War II movie, it’s unexpected to see an influx of teenage girls. However, with a heartthrob and former member of boyband, One Direction, playing a major role, the tides have turned. However, Harry Styles isn’t the one who steals the show. Newcomer, Fionn Whitehead, takes audiences through the journey of a soldier fighting to survive. With such an incredible director, Christopher Nolan, it’s no surprise that Dunkirk is a box office hit!

July has been a strong month for new releases and we can’t wait to see what August has in store! Let us know which movies you loved this month, and which ones your looking forward to watching during the final weeks of summer.
